Während einer routinemäßigen Verkehrskontrolle wurde ein Streifenpolizist erschossen. Der einzige Tatzeuge ist der junge Polizeipraktikant Patrick Brookner, der mit dem Polizisten auf Streife war. Doch Brookner ist seitdem verschwunden.
