Im Rahmen der Ausstellung von Dominique White in der Kunsthalle Basel All Great Powers Collapse from the Centre zeigt Screen Dialogs im Stadtkino Basel ein Kunst- und Filmprogramm. Das Filmprogramm findet als Kooperation mit dem Stadtkino Basel statt.Gezeigt wird The Last Angel of History von John Akomfrah, ein filmischer Essay, der afrofuturistische und afropessimistische Perspektiven auf Geschichte, Erinnerung und Zukunft entfaltet. Moderiert wird der Abend von Ananda Jade, das Gespräch nach der Filmvorführung wird mit Serafina Andrew geführt. Serafina Andrew ist Cultural Studies Researcherin und arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von visueller Kultur, postkolonialer Theorie und digitalen Medien. Das Gespräch findet in Englisch statt.As part of Dominique White’s exhibition All Great Powers Collapse from the Centre at the Kunsthalle Basel, Screen Dialogs, in cooperation with the Stadtkino Basel, is presenting an art and film program. The program features John Akomfrah’s film essay The Last Angel of History, in which Afrofuturist and Afropessimist perspectives on history, memory, and the future unfold. Following the screening, a discussion will address selected themes and questions from the film and the exhibition.The evening will be moderated by Ananda Jade in conversation with Serafina Andrew. As a photographer, cultural studies scholar, and film scholar, Serafina Andrew conducts research at the intersection of visual culture, postcolonial theory, and digital media.
